South Africa and Zimbabwe qualify automatically as co-hosts. Several other teams secured direct qualification through the ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings at the relevant cut-off date, while four teams will come through the Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

Cricket World Cup 2027 Format
The 2027 World Cup will use a three-stage structure before the semi-finals: the Super Series, Group Stage and Super 7.

The opening Super Series will feature the teams finishing second, third and fourth in the Cricket World Cup Qualifier. They will play each other once in Windhoek on October 2, 4 and 6. The team finishing first will qualify for the main Group Stage.

The Group Stage will then feature 12 teams divided into two groups of six. Each team will play every other team in its group once.

The top three teams from each group will progress to the Super 7. The better-performing fourth-placed team from the two groups will take the seventh position.

Super 7 Stage
The Super 7 stage is scheduled to run from October 25 to November 14, 2027.

Seven teams will compete in a single round-robin format, meaning every team will play six matches. Importantly, the points earned during the Group Stage will not be carried forward into the Super 7.

For scheduling purposes, seven teams have been pre-seeded into positions:

• India – A1

• Australia – A2

• Pakistan – A3

• England – AB4

• New Zealand – B1

• South Africa – B2

• Sri Lanka – B3

If a pre-seeded team does not qualify for the Super 7, the team that replaces it will take its designated position in the schedule.

At the end of the Super 7, the top four teams in the standings will qualify for the semi-finals.

Cricket World Cup 2027 Semi-Finals and Final
The first semi-final is scheduled for November 17 in Cape Town, while the second semi-final will take place on November 18 in Tshwane.

The first-placed team in the Super 7 standings will play the fourth-placed team, while the second-placed team will face the third-placed team.

Both semi-finals will have reserve days to allow the matches to be completed if weather or other circumstances cause disruption.

The Cricket World Cup 2027 final is scheduled for November 21 in Johannesburg. A reserve day has also been allocated for the final.

World Cup 2027 Venues
The tournament will be played across 12 venues in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

In South Africa, matches will be staged in Cape Town, Paarl, Johannesburg, Tshwane, Bloemfontein, Durban, Kampo City and Gqeberha.

Zimbabwe will host matches in Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, while Windhoek will host the Super Series and other tournament fixtures in Namibia.

The inclusion of Victoria Falls is particularly notable, giving international cricket a new World Cup location in Zimbabwe.

Why the 2027 World Cup Schedule Is Important
The 2027 edition will mark the return of the Men's Cricket World Cup to Africa. South Africa previously hosted the tournament in 2003, while Zimbabwe and Namibia will also play important roles as co-hosting countries and venues.

For cricket fans, the schedule provides several major fixtures to follow from the opening weeks. India's matches against Australia and Pakistan are among the headline Group Stage games, while the later Super 7 phase will determine which four teams progress to the semi-finals.

The format also means that teams must perform consistently across multiple stages. Although Group Stage results determine who advances, the points do not carry into the Super 7, giving the qualifying teams a fresh standings battle.

Conclusion
The Cricket World Cup 2027 schedule runs from October 2 to November 21, 2027, with 14 teams competing across 57 matches in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

India will open its campaign against Australia in Cape Town on October 7 before facing Pakistan in Johannesburg on October 10. Its remaining Group Stage fixtures are against Afghanistan, Qualifier A and Zimbabwe.

The tournament will progress through the Super Series, Group Stage and Super 7 before the semi-finals and final. With matches spread across 12 venues and three host countries, the World Cup 2027 schedule provides cricket fans with a full calendar of international ODI action leading up to the final in Johannesburg on November 21.
